Chevron Donates $4.75 Million to Forever LSU
LSU announced a $4.75 million gift commitment from Chevron Corporation on Feb. 28th – the largest one-time corporate cash donation to the LSU Foundation in its history.
LSU Scientist Finds Evidence of Rainmaking Bacteria
Brent Christner, LSU professor of biological sciences, in partnership with colleagues in Montana and France, recently found evidence that rainmaking bacteria are widely distributed in the atmosphere. These biological particles could factor heavily into the precipitation cycle, affecting climate, agricultural productivity, and even global warming.
Foundation of Champions Program Helps Offset Costs of Athletic Scholarships
In the fall of 2007, the Foundation of Champions Program was started by the Tiger Athletic Foundation to endow the costs for athletic scholarships in all sports at LSU. The purpose of the program is to provide a perpetual source of financial support for athletic scholarships through a general scholarship endowment fund.
LSU Junior Claire Kendig Receives Prestigious Truman Scholarship
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation announced that LSU junior Claire Kendig of Shreveport is among 65 students nationwide to receive the prestigious Truman Scholarship.
New Heights and a New Home for Business
LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business has seen a considerable increase in prestigue over the last five years. A major component of the Forever LSU campaign is the building of a new facility for the college, which will provide approximately 150,000 square feet of space.
Margaret Champagne Womack Donates $250,000 to LSU
The LSU School of Social Work announced on March 17 that Margaret Champagne Womack has made a gift commitment of $250,000 to increase the Margaret Champagne Womack Professorship in Addictive Disorders. Womack’s gift will also be matched by the Louisiana Board of Regents, raising the total benefit to the LSU School of Social Work to $410,000.
