College of Basic Sciences
The College of Basic Sciences is an integral member of the LSU community, serving the needs of its own students as well as students from other academic units. Each year, the college boasts an enrollment of approximately 1,800 undergraduates and more than 500 graduate students. Every semester, the college’s 150 full-time tenure-track faculty and its 30 full-time instructors teach more than 60,000 student credit hours across five academic departments.
Funds generated from this campaign will help to advance the National Flagship Agenda by assisting the College of Basic Sciences as it strives to:
- Recruit and retain a diverse student body of the highest quality;
- Increase the number of graduate students by 100;
- Hire 40 new faculty members of the highest caliber;
- Improve the quality of existing laboratories;
- Construct new buildings for teaching and interdisciplinary research.
