School of the Coast & Environment
The future of Louisiana’s coast is critically linked to the welfare of the state’s people. Approximately half of Louisiana’s residents live south of Interstate 10, an area experiencing rapid land loss due to coastal erosion. A healthy coast is one of the most important requirements for the economic and cultural well-being of Louisiana, and LSU’s School of the Coast & Environment (SC&E) is at the heart of the efforts to protect Louisiana’s coast and wetlands and to preserve the vital link between Louisiana’s citizens and its natural resources.
Funds generated from this campaign will help to advance the National Flagship Agenda by assisting the School of the Coast & Environment as it strives to:
- Recruit and retain a diverse student body of the highest quality;
- Alleviate the financial hardship of graduate study by offering more assistantships;
- Reward and encourage faculty research with more endowed professorships and chairs;
- Enrich the learning experience by providing the latest technology, ample on- and off-campus resources, and opportunities for off-campus learning;
- Fuel the Louisiana economy by creating a knowledgeable, prepared workforce and providing valuable research and resources to professionals and citizens.
