LSU Athletics and the Tiger Athletic Foundation
LSU Athletics have not only provided a unifying identity for LSU, they have also played an integral role in shaping the LSU experience, fueling excitement for LSU and complementing the University’s quest academic distinction.
As a private, nonprofit corporation, the Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) supports LSU Athletics, which operates without the use of any state tax dollars and with no mandatory student fees.
TAF's mission is clear—to lead the University in building a comprehensively superior athletic program. Unrestricted contributions to TAF benefit every athlete and every team at LSU through scholarship and academic awards, as well as through the construction and maintenance of athletic facilities. Each calendar year, TAF provides more than $100,000 in student scholarships and academic teaching awards.
In order to preserve and expand LSU’s top-flight athletic program, the LSU campaign will seek private funding for a number of priority facilities, programs, and student scholarships. Foremost among these priorities will be a new Alex Box Baseball Stadium, a new softball stadium, an athletic scholarship endowment fund, and support for new practice facilities for several sports, including men’s and women’s basketball.
In this manner, private funds will be used to supplement ticket sales and other income, ensuring that LSU sustains the Tiger spirit and maintains its dominance in college sports.
