February 13, 2008 - The LSU College of Art+Design had another strong showing in this year’s ranking of top architecture and design schools. The 2008 Design Intelligence survey again places LSU among the top design programs in the South and nationwide, with LSU scoring high marks in three different programs of study, and rating very high in a survey of student satisfaction.
The Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture ranked #2 among all colleges in the nation for its excellence in providing the best-prepared and innovative graduates in the industry year after year. This is the fourth time in four years that the Reich School of Landscape Architecture has been ranked in the top five. The School displayed high marks in both its undergraduate and graduate degree programs: each ranked #2 nationally in the 2008 rankings.
The College of Art+Design’s architecture program ranked #5 among Southern schools for its graduate program and #9 regionally on the undergraduate level. The College’s interior design program came in at #4 in the South for undergraduate studies in the survey.
LSU scored very high on Design Intelligence’s survey of student satisfaction. In the section titled “Students Evaluate Quality, Value and Satisfaction,” LSU received a 100% recommendation rating by its own students.
Design Intelligence’s ranking system is considered the standard by which design programs across the U.S. are rated each year. Rankings in the Design Intelligence survey are based on statistical information, professional surveys and academic surveys. One of the distinguishing characteristics about the survey is that design professionals have significant input in the survey, which asks them to consider which schools produce the best-prepared graduates for the workplace.
The LSU College of Art+Design is supported by the goals of the Forever LSU Campaign. The Campaign’s goal is to gain $750 million in support for LSU by the end of the year 2010.
