May 23, 2007 — The LSU Honors College recently announced the creation of the Brian & Barbara Haymon Distinguished Professorship. Through the generosity of Mr. & Mrs. Haymon, the Honors College will use this $300,000 professorship to host visiting experts through small seminars, open forums and group presentations. “We are long time supporters of the LSU Honors College, and believe strongly in Honors’ mission and LSU’s Flagship Agenda. We hope our gift will enhance the overall Honors experience of both the students and faculty,” said Brian Haymon.
The LSU Honors College – a 4 year residential college - educates its students through a myriad of nontraditional offerings that include seminar style classes, independent research and thesis projects. “We are so grateful to Brian and Barbara. Their generosity will allow us to enhance our program by bringing leaders from various fields to Louisiana to work with our students and faculty. We believe this will be a mutually beneficial partnership for both LSU and our guests while helping us achieve the goals of the Flagship agenda,” said Honors College Dean, Nancy Clark.
