BATON ROUGE — Chevron has presented another pledge payment of $900,000 to the Forever LSU Campaign in support of their ongoing partnership with LSU in "Achieving Excellence Together."
Chevron’s gift to LSU is a continuation of its relationship with the University and part of the Company’s University Partnership Program, affecting multiple programs at LSU, including the following four focus areas:
"LSU’s College of Engineering has enjoyed a strong and productive relationship with Chevron that has expanded over multiple decades," stated Dr. Richard Koubek, Dean of the College of Engineering. "Chevron’s gift showcases the positive influence of the College’s partnership with industry to transform lives through our students, research, alumni and global community. We are grateful to have the support and cooperation from an energy leader, such as Chevron."
The relationship between Chevron Corporation and LSU has continued and strengthened over many years. More than 400 current Chevron employees worldwide received their academic degrees from LSU. Each year, Chevron matches about $150,000 in employee gifts to LSU, which doubles the impact of its employees’ philanthropy.
"Chevron has an unwavering commitment to being a good partner focused on building productive, collaborative, trusting and beneficial relationships," stated Clay Neff, Chevron General Manager of Operations. "Chevron still believes there is no better example of that commitment than our continued partnership with LSU."
On February 28, 2008, LSU announced a $4.75 million gift commitment from Chevron Corporation – the largest one-time corporate cash donation to the LSU Foundation in its history. The current $900,000 pledge payment is the second installment of the $4.75 Forever LSU Campaign commitment.
Prior to the gift announced on Feb. 28, Chevron Corporation had given more than $2.4 million to LSU. Most of those gifts were designated to the College of Engineering.
Chevron’s gift to the College of Engineering and other academic units helps our University advance the goal of the Forever LSU campaign. Forever LSU is a historic undertaking by the LSU community to attain more than $750 million in support for our University by the end of the year 2010.
